Our second year of marriage has brought a lot of change to our lives... So far:
Dan and I took another vacation to Chattanooga in January. Mazda sent him to Atlanta
to do more training, and we took a couple of extra days to have some us time. Our trip was awesome in all senses of the word. We were going to try something different and stay at the Sheraton Read House because it was said to be 'haunted', but when we arrived in Chattanooga it seemed to 'hoity toity' for us, and while we were frantically checking hotels.com from our iPhones, we literally watched the prices of rooms change while we made our decision. We decided that we didn't want to valet park the car (I just can't bring myself to do it, I hate other people driving my car), and went back to the Choo Choo. We got a killer rate on a regular room, and ordered pizza & stromboli for dinner (since we got in late).
In the morning we decided to venture out to 'See Rock City'. It was pretty cool, there was a lot to do there, and not a lot of people there, since it is an outdoor attraction and it was only about 12 degrees out. We hit up the Terminal Brewhouse for dinner, and went back to the Choo Choo for night two. They got us a train car for night two for the same price as the first night, and it was freezing cold, but still fun. We did so much more, but I could go on and on, but no one wants to read that much about our vacation.Since our vacation in January, we've only have two other weekends to ourselves. Bailey started coming on the weekends again, and Noah stays on weekends, holidays, spring break, and any other time he gets the opportunity to. So our family life has been getting better, we're going out more, spending more money, but we're all happy.. even Bailey, which is awesome, because she is a great kid.
Dan applied for a job with the City of Cape Coral in January, we actually cut our Chattanooga trip short, because they called him in for an interview. The interview went well, but they didn't call, which seriously hurt his ego. He started to hate his job at Mazda even more, and was dreading every day that he had to work. In March, they finally called him back.
Now Dan has a cushy government job, and he loves it a lot. He took a significant pay cut, but gained benefits, and 200 hours of leave per year, and a pension. We've been working on cutting down our expenses to make things work, some days are easier than others.
We bought a 15,000 original mile Volkswagen Rabbit project form a new co-worker of Dan's, and hoped to get it running with a quickness so he could have air conditioning, and something cleaner than the Golf, and more economical than the F-350. We figured we could flip it when summer is over and sell the Golf and buy him a nicer car with our profits, but then two weeks ago, Dan cut the tip of his finger off, so now he can't do anything. (Don't get all squeemish, they sewed it back on, but it's still pretty nasty, and no, I will not do what Dan did, and post pictures of it...) So progress on that project came to a screeching halt...
Thats all I can post for now...
